You have the Open Water Certification, your itching to dive! You are wanting to go to Catalina Island to dive the Avalon Dive park, but you are wanting a little more experience before you venture out on your own... So you pick up the phone and enquire about your Advanced Open Water C Card! You can sign up for Advanced cert immediately after gaining open water! It consists of 5 open water dives, one is were you will learn Underwater Navigation and one will cover the knowledge of deep diving, Usually going down to 100 feet! Here you can see if you dive at Avalon giant Kelp that looks like huge cigar leaves! I also take a raw egg and show you the affect of pressure! Then 3 dives are up to you the student, we usually recommend Peak Performance Buoyancy as this teaches you how to cruise at ease in the Aquatic Realm learning skills to be more proficient at buoyancy so you can navigate coral reefs and swaying kelp, hover to take that priceless photo and be better on air consumption! But you may decide to do Fish ID, Search and Recovery or Night Diver! The Advanced open water book has many different dives to choose from and there is only the theory relevant to the dive you choose to cover! This course takes 2 days to obtain and will set you up to be a more competent diver, with your underwater navigation skills combined with your deep water skills going to the Dive park will be a great experience! This photo was taken by Al Wiscovitch, good buoyancy was necessary and as we were on the Oil Rigs of Long Beach, Deep diving skill was necessary too. Deep diving can be very rewarding and there are many different things to learn when you take the plunge to 100 feet, I like to show my Advanced Open Water students how color is lost and the affects of pressure. I usually take a raw egg and an unopen can of soda pop. The video below was taken by Sharol Carter.. Suzy and the egg at 100 feet deep [HQ]
Advanced Open Water is a great certification to have right after your open water certification! So sign up today and let the fun begin!
